Hi, my name is Veracruz, named after a city in Mexico that my mom is orifinally from. I am of Mexican-American descent. My parents own a motel and I grew up in. I'm 13 years old. Sometimes on the weekend or evening I get to do some work, such as giving pepole new sheets or towels or extra blankets.
Our motel is haunted. We have a few "resident" ghosts but they mostly stick around in 3 rooms. Room 5, 6, and 7, but sometimes people say they see them in the parking lot or outside the window. In room 6 a man committed suicide by a gun many years ago, and ever since we have had resident ghost, but I don't know if it draws more ghosts like the medium said it could, but two more have appeared since the suicide guy. They are not mean but it scares people and I have even seen the dead guy in room 6. I just pretend the guests are crazy because my parents say that we should never bring it up if they don't know.
My family stays at the very front. My mom does a lot of the housekeeping, but we have 2 other housekeepers, and my dad does maintenance and handyman work. My mom does the front office too, but if she's not doing it, then I cover for her or dad covers for her. We have a 2 story townhouse, and then the back section is where all the motel stuff happens. Our townhouse livingroom is unlike anybody else's livingroom. We have a thick glass window and that's where the transactions go through where we book the rooms. Our livingroom is our office. I try not to do my homework in the office because it's very distracting. People ask dumb questions like I am supposed to know where the nearest whatever-name bank is at. I'm just a kid, and I don't go to the bank. I just go to school and go back home. Also I live in the busiest house of all my friends, my bell rings several times a day!
Its hard because sometimes people try to live in our motel but my parents have made it where you can't stay at our rooms for more than 2 weeks. What happens is that things begin to deteriorate or get damages. We have to write things off for a loss and then replace or fix damages. It's not good for business to have people get too comfortable by living there. It's sad because sometimes people don't have anywhere else to go. Our motel is a good price and it's cozy and unlike some of the trashy ones down the street where all the hookers stay at, ours is very well kept.
Well, I guess I should get back to homework.
Love, Veracruz
